The International Workshop on Syntactic Cartography (IWSC) is a biannual conference initiated in 2015, which has been co-organized and supported financially by the International Association of Syntactic Cartographic Studies (IAOSCS) (Macao) [follow us on Facebook] and the Department of Linguistics, Beijing Language and Culture University (BLCU). It aims at bringing together linguists and scientists from other relevant fields who are interested in investigating the “maps” of syntactic structures.

句法制图国际研讨会(IWSC)始于2015年,由北京语言大学发起组织。该研讨会两年一度,由句法制图国际协会和北京语言大学语言学系常年联合主办,旨在为关注句法制图及其理据的专家和学者提供交流的机会与平台。

Si, Fuzhen. (ed.) (2017) Studies on Syntactic Cartography [句法制图研究]. China Social Science Press [中国社会科学出版社].

This volume presents the papers containing the most updated ideas and results of cartographic research in the past two years, contributed by the two keynote speakers, five invited speakers and some other participants of the first International Workshop on Syntactic Cartography (IWSC-1), the very first international conference on syntactic cartography in China (perhaps also the first one taking the name of “syntactic cartography” in the world).

Si, Fuzhen and Rizzi, Luigi (eds.) (2021). Current Issues in Syntactic Cartography. John Benjamins Publishing Company.

This book illustrates recent developments in cartographic studies, seen from a comparative perspective. The different chapters explore various aspects of theoretical and descriptive syntax, bearing on such topics as selection, causativity, binding, light verb constructions, the structure of the high and low peripheral zones. Syntactic issues in the study of dialects and ancient languages are also addressed. The languages investigated include French, Hebrew, Standard Dutch and the Ghent dialect, Etruscan, Japanese, English, Arabic, Mandarin Chinese and the Teochew dialect. The intended readers of this book include researchers and students working on natural language syntax, the interface between syntax and semantics/pragmatics, and comparative and typological linguistics, as well as scholars interested in particular languages such as East Asian and Romance languages.
